Drinking for the Planet

So many of us that spend our lives outside strive for a way to give back. What can I do to help preserve the places that I love. Whether it is a river, a rock face, or public land; it is important to save the places we love.  If you are a small business, the best way, is to join the honorable businesses that support 1% for the Planet.  This incredible organization’s mission is to create a healthier planet, and that is something that is absolutely commendable.  If you are reading this, I would go out on a limb and say that you care and that this organization is one that you agree with.

I don’t have a small business, but I can help make a difference through 1% for the Planet. So can you!  One example is New Belgium Brewing.  This popular brewing company, originally known for Fat Tire, is not only a brewery, but it is also a member of 1% for the planet and a healthy earth advocate.  Just by drinking their beer will help the planet.  Each of the members of 1% for the Planet, donates 1% of their sales.  1% may not sound like a lot, but it really adds up.

Yvon Chouinard (member 1), founder of Patagonia, and  Craig Matthews (member 2), owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, located in West Yellowstone, Montana, came up with the idea as a project to protect five miles of the Madison River.  Neither of them ever thought it would reach the size that it has now.  Over 1000 businesses and over 4000 nonprofit organizations have made the 1% commitment to help.

Just because you don’t own a business, doesn’t mean you can’t be a part of the organization.  Anyone can become a member of the Blue Crew by clicking here.  By doing this, you can make a donation and help make a difference.

Don’t forget you can always help by supporting any of the companies or organizations that have partnered up with 1% for the Planet.  The following companies are all companies that represent a small fraction of the companies that give back 1% to the planet.
